On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond. Meridian Independence Day Festival


Meridian City is looking forward to a grand fireworks display in Storey Park to celebrate the 250 anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence!  The park will be open to families for picnics and fireworks viewing.  Food trucks will be onsite at 4:00 pm for snacks and tasty local cuisine.  

Thanks to Meridian Speedway for partnering with the City of Meridian once again to bring this celebration to the people of Meridian. The fireworks display will be set off from the back (east side) of the Speedway at dusk, at approximately 10:20 pm.

Accessible Map Description:

  • Fireworks: Begin at 10:20 p.m. east of Meridian Speedway
  • ADA Parking: Limited accessible parking near the Meridian Pool.
  • Stage: Located south of Chamber of Commerce
  • Food Trucks: Open at 4:00 p.m. along the main park pathway.
  • First Aid/Lost Children Tent: Near the Meridian Chamber of Commerce building
  • Restrooms: Located throughout the park.
  • Road Closures: North and South access near the Watertower and baseball fields.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States.

A few things to note when attending the event in Meridian:​

  • The Bark Park will close a 1/2 hour before dark to secure the necessary fireworks safety zone.
  • No personal fireworks are allowed in the park.
  • No glass containers are allowed in the park.
  • Roads in the park will also be closed to accommodate the fireworks safety zone, please use caution.
  • The limited parking within Storey Park is reserved for ADA.    There will be a drop-off zone off Franklin Road.

  • Please be respectful of the neighbors and businesses in the area.  Do not block driveways and take all trash with you.
