Building Roads to Keep Meridian Moving

Hello, Meridian! When I talk with residents, transportation is one of the issues that comes up most often. I want to take a moment to share an update on some of the road construction projects underway in our city and how we are partnering with ACHD and ITD to improve safety and mobility across Meridian and the Treasure Valley.

Our top priority road project has been the Linder Road Overpass which includes the widening of Linder between Franklin and Overland. This project will expand Linder to five lanes and build a new four-lane bridge across I-84.

Construction in Phase 1 is happening now on the south side of I-84 at Linder and Overland with the majority of that phase scheduled to complete by the end of this year. The next phase will be to build the freeway overpass and connect it to Linder on the north side and widen Linder north to Franklin Road.

Another major north/south connection under construction is the Highway 16 extension between Interstate 84 and Chinden.
It’s more than halfway done, and drivers will notice the flyover lanes connecting the highway to I-84 are starting to take shape.
This project will be a major asset to transportation in west Meridian, easing congestion on Ten Mile, Meridian, and Locust Grove Roads. We are excited to see the end of construction in sight!

Another major project currently happening is on Ustick Road, between Ten Mile and Linder. This section is being widened to five lanes, with new sidewalks and bike facilities. When it’s complete in 2026, it will improve east–west traffic and reduce congestion in the area as we continue to make an important safe connection to Owyhee High School and the Highway 16 extension.

And the improvements to Eagle Road from Amity to Lake Hazel are nearly done. ACHD is expected to wrap up this project before the end of the year. I’m sure residents in South Meridian like myself will enjoy the greatly improved road and new intersections once again being opened.

I know living through construction isn't always easy, but these projects will reduce congestion, improve safety, and give our community more ways to get around and keep our City moving forward. And by continuing to work closely with ACHD and ITD we can plan for Meridian's future and meet the needs of our residents.
